CR is a synthetic elastomer produced by the polymerization of chloroprene monomer and contains chlorine atoms within its molecular structure. These chlorine atoms provide good resistance to ozone, outdoor conditions and ageing. Compared with many general-purpose rubbers, CR also offers improved flame-retardant characteristics and is used in gaskets, hoses, bellows and various protective technical components.
